Pupi famoso :P

Last Thursday was the Opening of a special (dunno the exact word) show (??) ate the Museum of Decorative Art in Buenos Aires. The exposition is about collectibles and people who collect stuff. You might remember one of my earlier post about my friend who collects helmets... He won the first prize and a sample of his collection is on display at the Museum. So here a few pictures of the event, where the upper class got together to celebrate that they have nothing better to do??? hahaha.

El jueves pasado fue la Inauguracion de la Muestra de Coleccionables y Colleccionistas. Pupi gano el primer premio con su coleccion de cascos!!!!! Asi que ahi estabamos toda la flia del Pu y yo mas la oligarquia argentina a pleno. En mi vida vi tanta gente con tantas cirugias, joyas y etc. Edad promedio 60 por lo menos y mayoria mujeres... Una paqueteria. En la foto Pablo con sus cascos, Pablo y yo, el edificio (que es una locura de lindo) y el banner de la muestra.

Primavera (part 2)

So... I have just realized that tomorrow is Monday :( Oh well... At least I have a nice weekend. So A few more pictures so you can have an idea of how big the group was. Pauli count 50 at some point!!!

Mañana es lunes!!! BUUUUHHHHH en fin, la verdad es que al menos ahora los findes son mios, asi que no me quejo al respecto, al menos hay una diferencia entre el finde y el resto de la semana. estas fotos son más que nada para que se den una idea de lo grande que era el grupo que juntamos para el picnic :) En un punto pauli conto a unos 50!!

Jess and Ignacio. Jess was here for a year, she's from San Diego. I was lucky enough to get to meet her albeit for a short time. She's great!!! Easy to talk to and fun!!! She went back to the States a few days back :( That's the thing with CS, some people are here just for a fix time and then they move back or on to a different place... Oh well... Let's try to enjoy the ride, ah?

Jess e Ignacio. Jess estuvo en Buenos Aires por un Año y hace unos días volvió a USA. Tuve la suerte de conocerla aunque el tiempo fue poco... Una persona excelente, divertida pero no hueca... No soy de las personas a las cuales les caen bien muchas mujeres, pero ella me cayó bien de una. Cero histeria.

Primavera (part 1)

One X-File later... I have realized that I stopped watching half-way during Season 7. Season 7 was aired in 1999/2000 in the States but I guess back in the day we were one season behind in Argentina, so that means that here it was 2001 and hence I was heading to the States to a full 8 months without TV (Buchanan Hall!!!, now refurbished) Anyways it's nice to see new episodes :). Ok, back to the post. SPRING is here!!!! And actually yesterday it was an awesome day.

Anyways, last Sunday we went to celebrate the spring arrival... It's kinda funny that we make such a big deal out of it when it is not actually that cold or awful during winter (no snow.. yay!!!) I guess that it's just a good excuse to get together with friends and be outdoors because, you know, is Spring :P We got together with a bunch of CSers and we went to the "coast" as we call here the riverside :) We meet in Vicente Lopez which is actually outside Buenos Aires although is all the same thing... like going to Baltimore County from Baltimore City. The day was pretty good, there was kinda a storm (about the time I was leaving) but besides that it was nice. First picture is from the place we make our picnic.

Ok, un poco de castellano para mechar :) El Día de la primavera nos juntamos con la gente de Cs en Vicente Lopez, en la "costa". El día acompaño bastante asi que pudimos pasar un lindo rato afuera tomando un poquito de sol cuando la tormenta no estana encima nuestro :P la primera foto es del lugar donde estabamos sentados nosotros. La gente le dice el pato enterrado al revés :)

Paulina had the bright idea of make the occasion also a "Guerra de las Meriendas", so everyone took something sweet with them and we had tea and mate :) My brownies are in the square plastic container.

Paulina tuvo la brillante idea de hacer a su vez otra "Guerra de las Meriendas", más que nada porque Martín venia molestando al respecto desde que hicimos la primera. Yo hice brownies de cajita (Exquisita) y la verdad es que quedaron muy buenos. Estan en el taper cuadrado.

A moment when the light was right and the river looked blue instead of the usual ugly brown :) Un momento en el cual la luz hizo que el rio se viera azul en lugar del habitual marrón mugriento :P

Paulina y yo disfrutando de la naturaleza... Las alergias aparecieron 10 minutos despues... Paulina and Myself enjoying Nature... Allergies soon followed.

Siguiendo con la marathon de updates :) (si, sigue lloviendo y no tengo ganas de ver los dos nuevos episodios de Heroes...) La semana pasada no, la anterior, estuve con visita. Mi prima se quedo una semana por un Congreso y la verdad es que despues se extraña la compania. Es lindo llegar al departamento y que haya alguien o esperar a que alguien llegue despues que uno. A veces creo que necesito un roomate, aunque para eso necesito otro departamento y la cuestión logistica de donde voy a vivir en unos meses está volviendose interesante :P Aca una fotito con "la nena" jejeje. la sacó Renée.

yep, still raining, still X-Files saturated... So here I am filling the blanks of the past weeks :) A few weeks back my cousin stayed with me for a whole week. It was fun and nice to have someone in the apartment besides my own twisted thoughts. I realize how much I miss the company, having someone to wait for or that is there when you arrive... And I'm not talking about a couple, I think I need a housemate but that is not so often seen here. Anyways I'm in the middle of deciding where I will be living in a couple of months, my contract is expiring, I might buy something (if I can get a loan).. But you know, the economy sucks and so does life sometimes :P

Renée

I met Renée through CS, she was coming to Argentina to improve her Spanish and on vacation. We clicked from the start, even form e-mails... an independent, fun and nice person all around :) She was in Buenos Aires for less than 2 weeks, and we manage to meet twice because both our crazy schedules :P It's so funny when you realize you have tons in common with somebody that lives on another hemisphere and speaks a different language :) I guess it does not matter where or in which language men suck all around :P

Conoci a Renée a travez de CS, me escribio mientras planeaba su viaje a Buenos Aires para mejorar su castellano y de paso tomarse unas vacaciones. Es genial cuando uno encuentra gente con la que hace click de una, y asi fue con ella. Ya por los e-mails sabia que era uan persona independiente, divertida y buena... Conocerla solo hizo que nos dieramos cuenta todo lo que tenemos en común.

She was kind to send me these pictures. First one Renné and me before she left. The seond one and the third were taken at a library in Buenos Aires when we first met, we were just cracking up at the English "literature" you could find there. The third one was taken at this costume place across the street from my apartment, apparently is a famous korean character :P

Las fotos las sacó Renée que me hizo el favor de mandarlas. En la primera estamos las dos antes de que se fuera. La segunda y tercera estan sacadas en El Ateneo, nos estabamos riendo del hecho que los unicos libros que se encuentran en Inglés son bastante "basura" literariamente hablando... nada de un Austen o Poe. la ultima foto la saco en la tienda de disfraces que esta frente a casa, aparentemente es un personaje koreano muy conocido :P

Plaza San Martin

Hi All...
It's raining and it has been for the past... all day?? So I decided to try and catch up with my blog, since there is only so many X-Files episodes you can watch in one day (my tolerance is 4, maybe 5). I should probably be writing or reading stories... but the whole idea of the workshop is to enjoy it and anyways I'm writing now :)

Ok, to the pictures now... This is Plaza San Martin in the Retiro neighborhood. I was walking around with my cousins, the kids and my uncle that day. It was chilly but so sunny!!! I just love the architecture of the city and I always seem to find new places or rediscover old ones.

Plaza San Martin used to be the first stop when I was coming back from the States on my earlier trips back. The bus I took from the airport used to have the stop there (now they moved to a bigger place close to the train station and bus terminal) so I would leave my suitcase there and just walk around Florida and/or meet with friends. So long ago...

Esta lloviendo desde la mañana, sali a hacer algunas compras (no mandados, porque nadie me manda :P) y dps me encerre a mirar los Expedientes secretos X, pero hasta una fan como yo puede aguantar solo cierta cantidad de episodios :) Asi que aca estoy esciuchando música y escribiendo el blog.

Estas fotos son de hace dos fines de semana o más... Mi tío estaba de visita y salimos con mis primos y los chicos a almorzar y a caminar. estaba fresco pero habia sol, asi que lo aprovechamos. Es la Plaza San Martin, cerca de Retiro. Una plaza preciosa. La arquitectura de Buenos Aires me sigue fascinando, siempre encuentro algo nuevo o redescubro algo ya visto... Como esta plaza. Aca solía tener la terminal Tienda de León, asi que este era el primer lugar de Buenos Aires al que llegue las dos primeras veces que volvi de USA (o fue solo la primera??) Parece mentira que ya hayan pasado tantos años.

Linea A de Subte

So the other day on my way to the Truco meeting I rode the Metro Linea A. It's the oldest one in Buenos Aires and I was lucky to get into one of the old trains (circa 1920s). It's not the first time I traveled there, but it was the first time I had a camera with me, so I took a few pics :P And we are back with the self-portraits!!1

El otro dia para ir a jugar al truco tuve que tomar la linea A del subte. Tuve la suerte que me tocara una de las viejas formaciones y tener una cámara conmigo. Las fotos son del interior del vagén en el que viajaba. Y volvieron las autofotos!!!!

Hello all you nice people (or the two that actually read this...),
It has been a while since my last post, I was busy with work first and after that I was recovering :P Tape-out is always a mess, no matter how much you try to keep things under control there is a point when things just go crazy, but is over. Now 3 more weeks until the damn circuit is back to check if we did or did not screw up big time. FUN!!!
In the meantime I have been reviewing test plans and crap while working on another project (thanks God!!!). Seriously, I have pretty much been on the same project for more than a year now and I needed some fresh air. ENOUGH ABOUT WORK.
So... Besides work life goes as usual, meeting friends, having the now and then depresion/anxiaty, same old same old. So anyways, I'm doing fine now :P And I have pictures!!! Last weekend we had this meeting with CS to teach Truco, a kinda local card game. We have lots of fun... The pictures were taken at the end, we were in a park and starting to get cold. I have to thank the photographer, Kate Sedgwick :)

Al final me embale escribiendo en ingles y ahora no quedan tantas energias para es castellano. Resumiendo, estuve bien loca con el trabajo por unas semanas, pero por suerte ahora esta un poco mas tranquilo y trabajando por el momento en otro proyecto mientras espero que el chip anterior vuelva (espero que ande el hdp). Pero ta... La vida continua, ahora ando bien, sigo con mis rutinas, saliendo los findes, escribiendo cuando puedo, que se yo. Creo que pronto voy a poder poner un cuento aca, la verdad es que me gusto bastante, pero aun le queda correcciones por hacer.
El finde pasado nos juntamos con la gente de CS para ensen~arle a jugar al truco a los foraneos que quisieran aprender, la verdad es que la pasamos muy lindo! La tarde estaba fresca pero no demasiado, terminamos quedandonos en el parque hasta las 8 de la noche. Las fotos las saco una chica de USA, muy macanuda. Se llama Kate Sedgwick asi que gracias a ella!!!
